Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Jorge Guerra received his BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing at CSULB. He is also a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he was a Dean's Graduate Research Fellow. He currently lives in Iowa City and is working on a novel and researching the Guatemalan Coup D'état of 1954 and disappearance of leftists during the Guatemalan Civil War.
